The Color-C-Lector

Postby Stan Wright » Thu Nov 03, 2011 8:58 am

Just recieved my new Color-C-Lector in the mail from Cabal's. I was
one of the first people to purchase one way back in the late '70 when
they first came out. When I saw the new digital one,
I just had to have it. :D

What it does is tell you what color is most visible under different
water and lighting conditions. That way you can choose the color
of lure that the fish can see the best. simple, yea?

There is a probe on the end of a 50 foot cord... To determine the
water quality (Muddy, Stained, or Clear) lower the probe under
the water. If you loose site of the probe within 1 or 2 feet...
the water is "Muddy".

If you can only see the probe between 2 to 4 feet...
the water is "Stained".

And if you can still see the probe deeper than 4 or 5 feet...
the water is considered "Clear".

Lower the probe to the depth you think the fish are...
Say we're fishing a spinnerbait in 3 foot deep water around
the grass. Lower the probe to 3 feet and a number comes up
on the digital readout. Match the number to the color and
water clarity... that should tell you what color is the most
visible to the fish at that depth under the present water and
light conditions. It tells you regular color and florescent
colors on the chart.

I don't know if it will help me catch more fish... it will probably
give me more confidence in the color lure I'm using,
which should help. But mostly ,in my case anyway, it will give me
time to rest my casting arm while I'm fiddling around with my new toy.

Stan,
I read up on this product on the BPS website. I'd like to see it in action, then maybe Santa will be good to me!
