thursday action
seems alot of people had thur off,not too crowded but definatley more people than usual.730 at the ramp as a iwas launching ther was a guy and his kids that said he had caught 6 tucs on the 6 medaka he had brought all in the 2-3lb range. said he was done couldnt top the action they had had hahaha. no such tuc luck elswhere i saw many just hanging around the logs but most just seemed too lathargic. water temp was 70 at launch and 73 at noon water clarity was very good actually, lotsa debris out keep the speed down or might have a nasty surprise!lake level is high but not goin over the dam.now onto the bass, kelton is right about the action lotsa small busts same as last week. alot of 10-12 in fishing chasing shad like last week but very spread out,and easy to catch on any topwater.saw most boats doin well on the small bass.found better bass grouped up on small depth breaks, all the usual spots have been so well worked recently(points, trees, grass) that i found em by goin to kinda weird little areas not usually fished. i did find small bas up in rose street slough and in the grass along the way. all you guys with a limited range can rest assured south fork is seeing action same as the main basin, and visibility is still good up there.dunno bout 3lbers like kelton but i got a few maybe in the 1-2lb range by watching the depth finder and watching for steep climbs in elevation in places not normally fished, theres a really strong thermocline at 15ft but no fish hanging near it, got most of my fish in the 6-8ft range. dragged a small carolina rig and some texas rigged plastics to get my fish. all in all a great day, maybe 15 fish total! merry christmas too all!!
