Fish feeding advice???

Postby Stan Wright » Sun Jul 22, 2007 3:26 pm

I remember about 5 years ago... a guy would go down to the lake behind his house every afternoon and toss a few cups of dog food into the water.
(Those steps at the back of Tukc Bay)

As soon as he headed for the water the fish started to gather around. Red devils & bluegill first, then the carp and catfish. Next the largemouth and peacock bass.

Remember when Leon rented boats behind Kemoo Farm? He was always feeding the fish. It was a great place to take kids for some fast action.

Well, I just got one of those game feeder things, and I was wondering what you guys thought of the idea of hanging it from a tree some place on the lake where we can take the kids for an hour of fast action.

It's a 5 gallon can with a timer attached to the bottom. Reel Tree green and brown so it wouldn't be noticed that much. I was figuring to hang it from a tree limb in some remote cove out of the wind. Where boats, not vandals could find it.

Didn't the state have a fish feeder at the park for a while?

Any thoughts?

I would stick on one of th Islands to ensure no bums to take it and keep the cats out of it as well.

LOL @ the bums getting it. I would also think one of the Island would be the best place, but then it wouldn't be accessible to the kids fishing from shore. Also, would it become an off limits spot during a tournament?

So far it's still in the tree where I put it. Some people have seen it, others can't find it.
Hopefully the fish will start finding it and we'll have a nice talipia, bluegill, carp, catfish, and red devil school for the kids to enjoy.

Did you know that if you bump the can while refilling it... the fish food scatters all inside your boat? One cup of fish food equals about 1000 little tiny stinky balls that roll into some really hard to get at places.
