Ugly Fish

I caught this fish (see pic) back in August and was wandering if anyone could tell me what type of fish it is.

it looks like an oscar but dont quote me as I've yet to catch one there.

could be a hybrid red devil. rear end looks red devil-ish but the head looks tilapia-ish.

That's an oscar. Note the peacock eye on the tail just like peacock bass. Some breed of oscars do have long thread fins.

Ugly? A juvenile oscar is $8 at our local pet store. The one you caught probably go for $20 here :lol:

Definitely an Oscar, I've owned enough of them as aquatic pets (very intelligent for a fish) to know. :wink:
