Small Mouth Bass
Check this out... Kazutoshi wanted to try some peacock bass fishing and landed one of the nicest smallmouth I've seen come out of the lake.
He had just missed a huge peacock bass that swirled at his lure and he immediately cast back into the same spot. Again the peacock bass hit the lure. (a white, 3" Bass Assassin shad) The line tightened, the rod bent, the fish turned and ran to the left, and the lure came free.
Again Kazutoshi cast into the same spot and no sooner had it touched the water than the smallmouth had it. Using only 6# test line and a lightly set drag, it was a few minutes before the net slid under the fish.
The small mouth weighed 1 3/4 pounds and measured 15 1/2 inches. But to me the most amazing part was that it was caught in that little cove accross from Paper Bark Trees. ..... down the straight away past Cow Point.
I've only caught smallmouth way up the lake where the stream runs over the rocks. Never down in the main lake.
It's the first smallmouth bass we've tagged in Lake Wilson.
