99% of the time I use lures. I don't know why but I get a thrill out of tricking a fish into eating something fake. I have nothing against live bait though besides that it makes me stink and I'm not very good at catching it, which leads me too.......
Is it legal to use a cast net to catch Tilapia at Wilson? I don't remember reading any rules saying it wasn't.

Most kids are not too good at casting yet (and many adults too) so using live bait is a good way to get them into catching fish. That's all they want to do... catch a fish, any fish.
Just because your using live bait, doesn't mean you'll catch lots of fish. Skill is still very important. There is a lot more to live bait fishing than just tossing in your bait and forgetting about it.
Sometimes lures will out fish live bait. I love seeing the fish come up and take the lure. The thrill of the strike.
However... moving slowly along the shoreline... "flipping or pitching" a big live tilapia next to a log or grass line..... keeping the "live bait" in site as it struggles to get into the safety of the heavy cover...... and watching a big 6 pound peacock bass come out from under the boat and splash water on you as it attacks the bait.... now that will take your breath away.

lures only
When I first started out, I used more bait often than lures. Now it is strictly lures. For me, it is more fun!
The Dark Side???
I've always been a landlubber (no boat), and nowdays can get up to the lake only sporadically. Live bait greatly increases my chance for success in the few hours of shoreline fishing that I do manage to get in. So you can count me in as a "dark sider".
But like I've said previously, lure chuckers or live baiters - different strokes for different folks. I respect both.
Right, Saltydog?
Tucmaster out!

Greetings Tucmaster,
Welcome to the "Dark side" live baiter.
Hope to be back on the island in March/April. We should hook up and throw the live bait stuff.
Remember, big bait, big fish

Hey Stan,
Might be heading out your way in March or April. Not sure which, but soon.
By the way, I got some sweet utra lights for you. Can't wait for you to go "bend do"!!
If your providing the big live bait stuff, I got to borrow that long heavy rod again (the one to rip the lips with!! )
