High water - Good fishing

Got a call on Monday from Clay at Nervous Water Fly Shop. On Sunday he stayed in the back of the boat.... rain suit and under an umbrella..... while Ty did all the fishing.
"It rained somewhat"

At the boat ramp the water was "way high and a chocolate brown color." As they got to Boy Scout Island it had cleared up some..... the Main Basin was clear. Ty worked the shoreline and caught quite a bunch of fish. There was also some schooling fish action. Lots of fish and lots of rain.

As they got near Kemoo Island Clay shouted: "Look at all the fish breaking the surface over there. What a school." Turns out it was the white water where the water was going over the spillway.

They didn't remember when the lake level was so high. Even the "Catch & Release" sign under the south bridge was underwater.

I went monday and had one of the worst days I've ever had a Wilson, my buddy caught one tuc, all I had were 3 attempts, 2 tucs on a popper fly and I believe it was a small small mouth after a crank bait all the way up to the end of the North Fork. Went up there because the last time I was on the lake during a good rain I headed that way and caught the Lake Wilson Grand Slam...so such luck this day. Like in your post the water was extremely muddy, I've never done great with the water that murky, but it was a bit clearer around the main basin. There was hardly any tucs busting. But I did see a heck of a lot of shad past morgans point aways right where the next point is.

I went today and went all the way up north trying to catch a smallmouth but ended up getting 4 largemouth. Not bad for 2 hours of fishing
