Hot Action at Blue Boat Point

What's in a name? How does a place get a name? Well in the case of "Blue Boat Point" it's the wild feeding frenzy of peacock bass this last week and the pretty blue bass boat that's always parked there.
Several times in the last two weeks I've seen that blue boat tied up to the point of land on the south shore that separates the North Fork and the South Fork of the lake. They always wave and keep fishing the fish they are hooked up to. Nice guys, smiling and laughing.
This week I've been hearing reports of wild feeding fish, larger fish in the 5 to 6 pound range. People catching 25 to 30, even 50 to 100 fish. Not just the one to two pound average size ones.... lots of larger fish too.
When I ask where......? "South of the dam by the Blue Boat." "On that point where the Blue Boat fishes." "We tied up right next to the Blue Boat." "Blue Boat Point." Even my son has started calling the place Blue Boat Point.
Yesterday, Friday, Aug.17. the peacock bass were busting all around Blue Boat Point. Using lures, Chris and Joe, landed fish weighing over 6 pounds. (on the Boga-grip scale) It was one of those days where you try out all the lures in your tackle box.... and most everything works.
I haven't got a report from the "Blue Boat" about how they did on Friday, but on Wed. they caught over 100 peacock bass using live bait. Mollies, feeder fish from the pet store. Just as fast as they could put a bait in the water, there was a strike.
The guy was a little excited as he was giving me the report..... but having fished with him before, I'm sure his report of the wild peacock bass action at "Blue Boat Point" wasn't just another "Fishinggggggggg Tale."
Aloha,
Stan
