It's always a pleasure to fish with experienced anglers. Yosuke and Tadanobe fish together every Wednesday on their day off...... and in the many bass tournaments near their home in Osaka, Japan.

With high water and a bluebird clear sky they had to use all their fishing skills and every one of those beautiful Japanese fishing lures to catch fish. It was "very difficult fishing". The larger peacock bass were not to be found. Even the smaller ones under one pound were not cooperating. We never did see any red devils.
"The fishing was great, the catching was not so good."

Tadanobu caught this one on a Senko.

These guys seem like nice people and I am impressed that they even brought their own gear from Japan to fish in Hawaii, including that awesome Shimano Stella reel. I'm not enough of an enthusiast to be able to ID the rod though.
Too bad that bass are considered pests by their government, much like how our state gov't dislikes the smallmouth bass in our streams (I agree). Despite the opposition, bass fishing is huge there and the record is something like 19 pounds. Insane!
