After we weighed that bugger, the fish went back into Wilson. My mistake, not a grass carp, just a common carp like the one here:
the one I got was mostly dark but had a nice golden tinge to the sides, kinda looked like a TUC at first until we got it closer to the boat and we could tell that it was a carp.

We used the scale that we use to weigh all the fish during HFFA tournaments. We did not take any pictures or take length measurements. Wasn't thinking about any State records, just kept the fish in our livewell so that I could show the others in the club (
since I wasn't catching any bass) that at least I caught
something!. (
They say when fishermen get together to tell fishing stories, you need some deep boots.).
It seems like it might be a good idea to have the forms and know the information that you need to submit for a State record during any fishing trip to the Lake, never know when one might catch a fish that could be a potential State record fish.
