Is the valve broken again??? Looking at USGS historical data,,,, They are dropping the lake big time compared past years... ?? Not good for spawning fish?

Thats just Dole for ya. Welcome to Lake Wilson. :? The level goes up & down like a yoyo. If it stays planed off for a while, like it has been since the beginning of March, enjoy it while it last.

The drain valve at the dam will be open all the time until the water level
reaches the 69 Foot level. Thats the agreement between Dole, DLNR and
the Aquatics Division to mitigate the potential for flooding down stream and
the pressure on the Dam. If it don't rain in the mountains, then there is not
enough inflowing water to offset what is being drained off. The result is the
water level dropping by 6+ inches everyday. It sucks !

Hopefully, whoever is in charge of the drain valve will pay attention to the weather
and give us fishermen a break by slowing down the drawdown.
I believe they'll wait until the level hits 69 feet and then close the valve off.
However, the level will continue to drop below 69 ft. if they need
water for irrigation.

This dropping water level scenario makes it really hard to pattern the bite.
It's a new lake almost everyday. That submerged log your fishing around today
maybe high and dry by tomorrow or the next day.
It puts a lot of pressure on the bass and tucs.

So pray for rain, and boaters (big & small boats) please slow down to a crawl when passing
others who are fishing so as to minimize the mud being stirred up along the exposed bank.
Let's all give each other the best chance of "catching" rather than just
"fishing" during these challenging conditions.

Mahalo, go git em...
