I went on my hunt for #200 again. This was an happy off target catch but every species count, intended or not, so this one will be no different.
Yay!!! Species #200!!!
Silver Shiner (Notropis photogenis)
The day end with too many river chub, common shiner and silver shiner...plus half dozen of smallmouths and half dozen largemouths. I was surprised to find largemouths in the creek!
I found my target species, northern hogsucker, too late. It was 3:30pm and it was starting to rain with distance thunder. I went back to the access and saw 2-3 BIG hogsuckers teasing me in the smooth run below the walking bridge (by big it meant they were 10-12" long...that's the biggest I've seen on this stream). Of course I gave it a shot...but 30 minutes later, the thunder got closer and the rain got harder...so I got chased off the water
Now I know where to find the BIG ones...I'm going to focus on that run next time 100%!!!
