Day 3, Lower Madison River
We hadn't moved 5 feet from the boat ramp when Steven
hooked into a small rainbow. Next cast, about 50 feet
down stream he hooks into a 15 inch rainbow.
Afew minutes and 100 yards down stream he hooks
into a 18 inch Brown... that got him into the backing.
That's how our day started... and it got better.
The current is much faster on the Madison, so we mostly fished
a crawfish immitation with a lightning bug on a dropper.
Nympthing was the way to go... we had constant action all day.
The rainbows... all the fish were larger... 14 to 18 inch.
Steven isn't a convert to Tenkara... yet... It was a little
more chalenging to nympth with a tenkara... but guess who
caught the most fish? Not the largest, I managed to break
off a few... but definatly landed the most fish. Here's Steven
fighting one of those big browns that were just to big for
my Tenkaras 5# test leader.
Ospray were fishing all along the river...
yes sir, everyone was catching lots of fish today.
"Why let the truth stand in the way of a good fish story?"
