What a difference a day makes. The sky was clear and blue... (read NO fish schooling) Worked the shoreline... nothing. Moved to BBP and started using live bait...
Needle fish. Haven't caught one of those in ages... got 3 today.
No Peacock Bass... but did get one Largemouth... This was a skinny fish,
it should have weighed 4 pounds, but was only 2. Fortunately, most 5 year olds don't care how big or what kind. I have to tell you this guy is a good, no, a great, fisherman. I have seen few anglers who could handle a fishing rod as well. It was a pleasure to watch this young man fight a fish.
Still looking for that peacock bass for Dad... A catfish? Where are the peacocks?
Yesterday it was peacock bass as fast as you could put a bait in the water.
Today... another catfish. (but some people don't mind)
Finally, something we don't normally catch in Texas... a red devil.
I don't remember working so hard to get a peacock bass and coming up short. They were just not to be found. It still amazes me that everything worked yesterday and nothing worked today. Filthy fisherman suggested it might be the Barometric pressure change. What ever it was, today was a slow day for peacock bass.
