My Hiking/Fishing Adventure

OK, I was planning a little hike on a fishing trip. What I got was a hiking trip with a little fishing. Either way, it was a beautiful day and a great way to spend time with my wife. Marcusn inspired me to go seek some smallies, so up Calif. Ave I went. A friend who lives up there pointed me in the right direction. Its a good thing he did. I would have stopped at the first stream thinking that was Kaukonahua Stream, but it is actually over another hill.
Here is the first hill we went down (and the last hill we had to get back up!)
We passed this nice little water fall along the way.
After about 30 minutes of hiking, this garden hose made it easy to get down to the water.
It didn't take long to find the smallies. This guy was pretty agressive. He got the tip of my Baby Brush Hog the first two times. Third time was the charm. It was fun getting him in on ultralite tackle and 4# test line!
He wasn't a 2#er but he's getting there!
Back he goes. By the time Stan gets here, he'll be well over 2 lbs.!
The water was higher than usual according to my friend, which made wading down the stream a little more difficult. I was OK with it, but the wife didn't care for a swim, although the water was clear and sparkling. A great way to spend quality time with the family, and do some fishing as well!
