There were a lot of folks fishing today, and everyone seemed to be catching. Fishing started off with a bang with some tucs between 3/4 and 1 1/2 lbs busting in the straight away before BSI. The were demolishing a huge school of shad as well as our medonkas. That was around 10am..it only lasted for about an hour then we moved to morgans point with no luck, fished through tuc bay and the rest of the stretch and catught about 8 largemouth, caught 2 bass that were 2lbs2oz and 2lbs3oz also caught a good tuc that was about 3.5 or 4 didn't weigh him but he was quite a bit bigger than the 2lb bass I caught. Pretty good day all around, my son caught 4 peeka bass he kept trying to make me reel them in (it's supposed to be the other way around). Thanks again roadwarrior for the bait. I think my boy had more fun with that than the actual fishing part. He spent a good portion of the day staring into the livewell...he surprised me when he actually pulled a couple out.

We were part of that large group of fishermen sneaking out on a Friday atfernoon. The spawners were still visible and some were taking the live bait. Nothing big, but some nice fish. Luke pulled in this tagged largemouth. Tag # 3923 Length - 16 1/2 inches Weight - 2 1/4 lbs Got him on a tilapia near Morgans Pt.
You can see the tag in it if you look closely. I believe this is the first tagged largemouth that I've seen.
Thanks to Ca bass for measuring it for us ( and returning my net later ).

That's the same life vest my boy has, I think it was like $15 at walmart...much better than the $30 one I got at westmarine. Fits the little ones much better and I don't think he gets as hot in it. He whines and cries about the other one, always wants to take it off. I'm glad he hasn't figured out how to do that yet, to young to understand it's the law.

Here is the information on the tagged LMB you caught...
I caught and tagged the fish on March 6, 2008.
1 1/2 pounds
13 inches long
Caught in Bluegill Bay ( "Y" on the map )
From the looks of the picture, that's near where I caught it.
I guess it figures that's a nice place to live

Thanks Stan. You are exactly correct with that fish. He was caught between X and Y on the map. He had chased a tuc that I had hooked a few minutes earlier, trying to get at the tilapia as it had slid up the line a foot from the hook. I have seen two tucs do that, but never had a lmb chase a hooked tuc. And it was a decent size one. The little guy in the back of the boat made him an offer he couldn't refuse. How does his growth over that 3yr period look on the growth chart ?

When Stan first tagged him in 2008, he was 13 inches long and weighed
1 lb. 8 oz., the national standard for that length is only 1 lb 2 oz., so this little buggah was fat & healthy. When Jake caught him recently, he was 16 1/2 inches and now weighs 2 lbs 4 oz. which is exactly what he should be weighing according to the growth chart, so he must be doing something right.
