Sunday Mar 13, Fish Report

As the water temperature inched up toward that magic 80 degree mark the action got better and better. We saw some spawning peacock bass (didn't catch them) but we saw them. We also saw a whole bunch more just swimming around... caught a few of them.
Just a very few were spawning. The lake has plenty of water to launch the boats... and the fishing is good.
My first fish of the day (peacock bass)... a perfect size for a Tenkara rod.
The Red Devils were spawning and pretty aggressive.
It's fun to spot the fish and cast the fly to it. The 4# test leader and light Tenkara flyrod are a perfect match for the red devils.
Would you look at the hump on this big male red devil.
I needed a little heavier leader to get some of these big one pounders out of the thick brush.
While I was playing with the RD, Shane was looking for big fish with his Buzz Bait.
Then this guy pulled up beside us and started fishing the water we had just worked over... within minutes he had this nice 3 1/2 pound peacock bass.
No sooner than his fish was released than this "just under 3" pounder hit.
Then before that fish could be released... this sold 3 pounder hit...
(Some people were catching more than others)
So we shook our heads and came home.
