5 Pound Bass

Ronald sent me a picture of his son Tre's 5 pound bass. The Hawaii state record is just over 9 pounds, and if this bass had not been on a diet it would be close. Look at the size of the head on this fish.

Lots of the bass we've caught lately are really skinny. On the other hand... all the peacock bass that Tre landed (he caught a lot more than his dad and I) were fat and healthy.

Just got another picture.... Papa & Tre with his bass.
If i keep posting, one of these days the will send me enough pictures,
Yes they caught peacock bass.

Aloha,

Wow, nice fish! I wish I could catch a bass like that nowadays. I haven't caught a LMB in the lake in more than 5 years! My biggest was also 5 pounds, but it was short and fat. I hope Tre realizes what a great accomplishment that is, especially at his age. If that was my son I would be proud!
Can we have more details such as date, time, place(general area), lure/bait used...etc.?
If all the bass are skinny, does anyone have any idea what we can do about it? If the lake becomes a peacock bass only lake, that would be sad. Personally, I wish it was the other way around, or at least 50/50.

Skunked, I think the only way we would have a lake with bass in it only is if the state builds another reservior and stocks it with only bass and forage fish. Would be nice. Just out of curiosity, why do you prefer going for bass over tucs?
