Day 2, Madison River
Posted: Mon Aug 30, 2010 1:27 pm
We fished the Madison again today. It was the best
choice of several lousy options. The Yellowstone
was muddy... Rain has all the rivers running high
and dirty... It was COLD. 53 degrees and WIND.
How cold was it? I didn't bring my wool gloves
(it was suppose to be summer in Bozeman)
This towel and plastic bag helped a little.
We got off to a great start... not 50 yards from
putting in, Steven connected with this nice brown trout.
Fun in the rain.
I was next to hook up. Here is our guide, Toby, holding my fish.
The water was higher than yesterday and filled
with floating grass and weeds. Every other cast,
we had to clean off our fly. Fish were few and
far between.... The rain cleared up, but it was
still very windy and COLD.
We managed to catch 6 or 7 more fish...
but I was happy we called it a day shortly after lunch.
(the lunches were great)
Rainbow Trout.
Browns were more active today.
