Be On The Lookout...

Tenkara Rod Update. Went out for an hour this morning looking for small fish... not Quick Large Fish. Please be on the lookout for 2 to 3 pound peacock bass with small flys stuck in their mouth. I bend down the barbs on all my hooks so they may have worked their way out by now.... (it will help work loose because the fish are so active today.... splashing around chasing bait fish up onto the bank and all)
The Tenkara rods are very light and it is recomended you not use leaders stronger than 5.2 pound test to avoid breaking the rod.

I'm here to tell you that those big tukes will snap a 4# test leader quicker than a minnow can swim a dipper.
The smaller fish were everywhere, and are a blast to catch.... it's those 2 pound plus peacock bass that were causing me all the trouble this morning.
These one pound size tukes give that 3 1/2oz rod a real workout.
The bluegill seem to be spawning. Find the area and it's non stop action.
If you use a small enough fly (or find a larger fish) the 5-Bar-Generals are right against the shore.
