For several weeks now just about any fish one caught was under 12 inches. But with the rising water temperature, larger fish are starting to get more active.

On Friday, the peacock bass started actively chasing lures... something to make the heart race. We saw some large fish. Even a few spawners.
The one pounders were way more aggressive.

Saturday, Chris got into the spawning peacock bass and they weighed 12 fish up to 5 pounds. He also said the peacocks were geting more aggressive. Water temperature 81 degrees.

Sunday, John and I were targeting bluegill with our little light fly rods.
The smaller (6 to 8 inch) largemouth and peacock bass were really aggressive. Bluegill and red devils were fighting over our flys.

But the pleasant surprise for me were the 1 1/2 to 2 pound size peacock bass that came out of nowhere to slam our little bluegill flys.

We also saw huge spawning peacock bass.... too big for our light tackle to handle. But nice to look at.

As water temperatures increase.... the fishing can only get better.

Wed..... there were still lots of small fish chasing the lures.... largemouth, bluegills, and peacocks. Did find some larger fish willing to chase the lures.

Also caught some spawning peacock bass. Nests were deep and hard to find. It was more like pitching to a likely spot and watching closely to see if a fish reacted.
