I fished the north fork this morning. The water was glassy and murky. the sky was mostly clear. No surface action today where I was fishing. I saw only a few fish cruising along the bank. I hooked about 10 on crankbaits along the shoreline. The bite was over by 7:30. I left about 8:30.

I normally I do a lot of ocean fishing from August to October, therefore I do not fish the lake as much during this time. This year, however, the saltwater fishing was lame and I have been going to the lake a lot. There seems to be more topwater action now than any previous year that I can remember. Maybe it is because the water is being kept a low level this year. This morning there was so much shad on the top, it looked like it was raining. You would think by now, the shad schools would be thinning out a little. A couple of weeks ago, there was a large hatch of fish. The banks was swarming with tiny fish, may be shad.
