Feb. 24-25 report.
Let's see, water level is way down. There were 7 slats showing at the bottom of the boat ramp. Chris didn't report on water temperature or water clarity.
On Wed. it was fly fishing. Moving slowly along the shoreline, they caught several nice peacock bass in the 2 1/2 to 3 pound range and lost or missed strikes on some larger ones. Caught some under one pounders too. Had a really fun time catching red devils on light fly rods.
On Thursday it was all spinning tackle. They again worked the shoreline and had even better action, landing more fish in the 3 pound range and again missing strikes on some larger fish. The under one pound fish were still active.
Some of the larger peacock bass were spotted sitting in the shallow water. They reacted to lures. The peacock bass had large humps on their heads, a sure sign that spawning can't be far away.
