1st annual Lake Wilson Jackpot tournament
FIRST OF ALL, THANK YOU TO ALL THE ANGLER’S THAT SIGNED UP FOR THE TOURNAMENT. WITHOUT YOU, THIS COULDN’T HAVE BEEN POSSIBLE. TURNOUT WAS A LITTLE LESS THAN EXPECTED BUT FOR THE FIRST TOURNAMENT, IT WASN’T THAT BAD. SIX BOATS FROM OUTSIDE SIGNED UP WITH FOUR BOATS FROM THE CLUB MAKING A TOTAL OF TEN BOATS IN THE TOURNAMENT. FROM SOME OF THE SCUTTLEBUTT I HEARD, EVERYONE SEEMED TO ENJOY THEMSELVES. MAYBE IT’S TIME FOR YOU DARK SIDERS TO TURN TO THE “LIGHT”. (SORRY, COULDN’T HELP MYSELF)
THE WATER WAS DOWN ABOUT 15 FEET AND QUICKLY RISING. THAT MADE FOR LOUSY FISHING CONDITIONS. NOTHING WAS FOUND CLOSE TO SHORE AND THERE WERE FEW BUSTS BY THE TUCS AND WERE MOSTLY ONE FISH ONE BUST. THE ONLY CATCHABLE ONES WERE MULTIPLE FISH BUSTS. JUST HOW HARD WAS IT TO CATCH FISH-ONLY HALF THE BOATS CAUGHT ANYTHING. AND IT WAS SPLIT EQUALLY WITH THE GUESTS AND CLUB MEMBERS (3 0F 6 AND 2 OF 4).
AND IF YOUR WONDERING HOW KELTON’S BIG FISH WEIGHED ONLY 2-2 WITH A TOTAL WEIGHT OF 6-11, HE JUST PICKED THE FIRST FISH OUT OF HIS LIVEWELL. MY PARTNER AND I HAD THE WINNING FISH BUT HAD SOME PROBLEMS WITH A FISH CAUGHT EARLY THAT WAS HOOKED IN THE GILL PLATE AND HAD TO RELEASE ONE AND COULD NEVER REPLACE IT. OH WELL, THERE’S ALWAYS NEXT TIME, RIGHT?
AND THERE WILL BE A NEXT TIME. WE’RE LOOKING AT MAYBE SOMETIME IN THE SUMMER NEXT YEAR. WE’RE ALSO LOOKING FOR SUGGESTIONS FROM ALL WHO FISHED THIS YEAR. (MAYBE RAISE/LOWER THE ENTRY FEE) ANYTHING BUT GO TO THE DARK SIDE (SORRY).
ALSO IF ANY OF YOU ARE INTERESTED, THE HFFA HOLDS TOURNAMENTS ONCE A MONTH WITH A TOURNAMENT OF CHAMPIONS HELD IN JANUARY. CLUB MEMBERSHIP IS $15.00 A YEAR, $20.00 FOR A FAMILY MEMBERSHIP (CHEAP!). WE MEET AT DOT’S IN WAHIAWA ON THE LAST WEDNESDAY OF EVERY MONTH EXCEPT DECEMBER. WE’RE ALSO INVOLVED IN A LOT OF ACTIVITIES THROUGHOUT THE YEAR INCLUDING THE FISHERIES AT WAHIAWA MIDDLE SCHOOL. FLAG DOWN ANY MEMBER IF INTERESTED.
SEE YOU ON THE LAKE
