I went down to the lake this morning, fished from 6:30 to about 9:30. To my surprise the lake was way higher than it was a few days ago. The water was "normal" in color and fairly warm. The fishing was tough. I saw the fish bust once on the shad. I caught 21 peacockbass and 2 largemouth bass. Stan, one fish had a tag in it, I had a hard time reading it without my glasses, looked like #3605. The fish was 19" long and looked to be about 4 pounds. Caught at Morgan's point. Did not see many fish today.

You caught 21 peacocks and two largemouths and you didn't see many fish today? Are talking about two different days?

I'll send the Tag information to Annette and let you know when I find out something. (it was probably tagged in 2007)

Sorry guys, did not mean to sound like I was bragging or misleading you. I guess I should clarify what I wrote. First of all, the water level had been relatively stable for the past few weeks, the weather was good, and the water color was nice. Therefore I expected to see a lot activity, tucs busting on shad, schooling fish on the shoreline, explosions in the cover, etc. Instead it was very quiet. I saw a lot of bait. When I wrote I did not see many fish, I am referring to what I see swimming around not what chases my lure, missed strikes or hooked fish. I would see maybe one fish pass by every 10 to 15 minutes for the first two hours. I did see a school of about a dozen swimming back and forth along the shoreline around 8:30 to 9. After that they seem to dissappear again.

By tough fishing, means I had to make a lot casts to get a strike and I was not confident there was any fish around. I was basically fishing blind. I picked what looked like a good ambush spot, kept pounding, and hoped whatever swam by would bite. I also lost 2 lures to fish and a third got wasted. It is damaged but still swims but I have to constantly tune it. So I had to earn every fish.

I didn't see any fish too.... normally we see a lot along the shore. Peacock bass and red devils...
(I love sight fishing....)
Anyway...
The fish were able to see my live bait, and I saw them after they were in the dip net.

But it's a lot more fun to see them swimming along, cast to them, and watch them grab the lure or bait.
