Report 11-20-11 HFFA Tourney

Postby Filthyfisherman » Sun Nov 20, 2011 8:35 pm

Launched 7a-4p... 15?Largemouth, 1 Tuc, Sunny, Rain, Wind, Clouds, WT 74-76, Stained 2-3ft, Level 74.73d, BP 30.08R, Moon 22%, Don't usally give reports of my tourney,, but in this case,, I Highly relied on My Filthyfishermen Bait Co lures to keep me in the game and consider this an instruction manual.... Started off the day by BSI dropshoting a money spot with a Wright&Mcgill 7.1' DropShot rod 8lbs test fluro with a Filthyfishermen Prototype 4" worm in Blue Fleck color with a #1 Gamakatsu Spilt/Drop shot hook tied with a polomar knot with the tag end running back through the eye of the hook and 3/16oz Owner DropShot weights. Nose hooked the worm with 24" leader Nada,,, Headed to the Dam and Power fished a white 1/2oz boyaha spinnerbait WrightMcgill 7' Spinnerbait Rod, 17lbs mono, and landed 2 LM quickly,,(Only Non Filthy Lure used),... Then headed back torward mikimiki flats Nada,,, Then headed back Dam Nada, Then headed pineapple field point "wind" and landed 1 LM, (3rd) Limit 8:30- 9am.. (Knew I needed UPGRADE Big Time!!) Power fishing the schooling fish usally only gets you small limit "unless you run into Tucs schooling"... So my tactic switched now to swing for the fence... I still power fished,, but put away the spinner and picked up an Arsenal of Custom Made Soft Plastic Lures!!!!! I then headed back to Money spot by BSI Nada,, Then headed way up North Fork to a certain spot I got pretty far, but not that far  Nada.. Headed back Fished Bridge Pilings submerged, Bridge, Nada, Headed All the way South to the sugar cane bridge landed 5-6LM bass? On Filthyfishermen Bait Agent Utah 3" in SmokeShad color rigged texas 1/0 EWG hook with a 1/8oz Tung bullet on 8lbs Fluro, WrightMcgill 6.10' Finesse tube Rod.. SmokeShad is a color I made a long time ago to match the shad run on the Delaware River NJ, It works great here as well... Two fish culled... Headed back fished slough, other things Nada,,, headed back up to to the Wahiawa bridge fished that downed tree, nada, ran the bank to the turn, Nada,, Think from there I headed back to the Money spot? Nada,, Hit this spot severel times today Nada?? Then headed back to the dam and picked up The Filthy Jerk 5" in Proto color :P rigged on 3/0 EWG hook on 15lbs mono 7' WM jerkbait rod and picked up the rest of the fish the rest of the day... I like throwing MONO on Spinnerbaits, Topwater, And Soft Jerk Baits now, it floats making it work easier near the surface, and you can make Monster cast with it. Heres a great Web Page to teach you how to use your Line http://www.bassfishin.com/blog/fishing-line-guide/ . My Tuc weighed barely over 2lbs, witch was depressing cause I lost a few bigger ones at the same spot......... Cloud cover was KEY!!! and some wind ripples on the water... I would try to make monster casts and quick jerk down motion with some pauses inbetween.. This jerk bait pattern lasted ALL summer and into fall and stopped.. Now it seems like it's sort of back on.... Alot of boats and people where on the point (condo cliffs) all day limited that pattern for me.... All in All ,,, A good day.... Next time out think I am going to bring out Filthy Swimbait 5" and the Au Bait.. I think matching the Shad right on with colors and presenting the lures in that 5ft strike zone working them with a swimming action would be money!!.. The Alabama Rig would work too,,, But illegal here 8) ....... Threw a lot of lures today, Craw, weenie, trick, Agent.. Spinner, crank, gunfish.. bunch stuff. More I covered ground...

Thanks for that report. I caught two LMB using Filthy plastics over by Condo Cliffs myself, then went HOURS w/o catching a thing. Then when talking to other fishermen near quansen hut, I found a pattern and picked up 3 more. One on a white Senko and the last two on a brown worm w/chart. tail.
