there was smallmouth in that pond but they were more near the inlet, i only fished the middle. smallmouth are my favorite out of the 3 haha

Waita is a pretty good fishery. Its bowl shaped with two rivers feeding into it. A dam with rip rap along the entire stretch, a stone wall runs in an L shape accross a portion of it, numerous rock piles here and there, depressions, some stickups, fencelines and some shoreline cover when the waters up. When the waters up theres also a small side to the lake, by going under a bridge. The bass runs in the smaller size and is abundant. Great for action. But theres some lunkers in there. With the tradewinds blowing 80% of the time, its very windy and its not uncommon to have little whitecaps. You need strong batteries for your trolling motor. Water is off colored most of the time, kinda milky looking from the silt thats constantly kicked up by the wind. So power fishing is the way to go there, except when theres kona winds. If youre going there and want to know which areas to go, and what to use, let me know and I will tell you.
