I don't think I've ever been so proud of such a small fish! The water was "fairly" clear at the rapids yesterday so I figured I'd try for a smallie today. Got there and today's rains had the water pretty stained. I already had a 3" grub on a small jig so I was set. I got a few nibbles. I pulled up a 4 or 5" SMB to the surface. He was hanging on to the tip of the tail and let go when he surfaced. I finally got my first smallie a few casts later. As most of you know, the SMB is the most elusive fish of the almightly coveted Lake Wilson Triple Crown. It was too late to try for the other two. One day I'll earn it!
