We were fly fishing. The water level is still rising and the wind was stronger than I expected, but the water temperature was 79-80 degrees and the peacock bass were noticeably more aggressive.

After trying several colors and patterns, the peacock bass settled on Gold as their choice of the day... Stan's 50 cent fly.

Larry was holding the magic rod and caught most of the fish.

We were catching all sizes of fish.

The red devils were out sunning themselves in spite of the rising water level.

Even a 2 pound peacock bass will put a nice bend in the rod.

We had lots of chases and missed strikes... but still managed to hook up enough fish to make it fun.

It's hard to believe a 2 1/2 pound peacock bass would chase such a tiny fly.

The only reason Larry caught so many more fish than me was because I was spending so much time taking pictures of the fish he was catching.

He wanted a picture with a red devil.

The red devils are just the right size for a Tenkara.

Even though most of the peacock bass were too big for my light Tenkara rod, I just couldn't resist. There are several nice size peacock bass out there with my little gold fly in the corner of their mouth. They were just too quick... I couldn't take the fly away from them in time.
I was able to land this 1 1/2 pound peacock.
