Blue Monday

Postby Stan Wright » Mon Jan 31, 2011 2:48 pm

"Blue Monday" was wash day... Haul water to the big pot out in the back yard and build a fire under it. Boil the clothes, beat the clothes, haul more water to rinse the clothes and then hang everything out to dry... Bring in the clothes and iron and fold. And it took all day. A very long day.
Not a fun day.

(I also think of cold when I think of blue.

Monday was a Blue Monday on the lake. Cold, not fun, white wash (no fish).
No hits, no chases, no follows and no pictures of any fish. Tried everything.

Went out today and was fishing from the shore. My buddy got a 2 pounder Tuc right away. After that got nothing. We saw a few Tus but not chasers. We did see the Japanese guys that take tourist out with the orange mark on the back of their boat lan a couple of nice tucs at Miki Flats. One of the fish was around 4 lbs. It looked like they were using a small little silver crank bank. I hope it picks up more!!

Just gotta wait out the winter. Once the spawn is on, then site fishing is the name of the game. After that, it should be "game on"!! 8)

Fished Tuesday from 11 to 2. Nothing happening out here.
Managed to catch 3 tucs.
1 - 12"
1 - 2.1 lb.
1 - 4.1 lb. 21 1/2" tag # 3936
I didn't have my reading glasses but that's my guess on the tag #.
Where did the released LMB go.
I think I'll wait for warmer weather when the bass
get more active.

SSminnow,
The peacock bass, tag number 3936 was tagged on March 29, 2008 at the place called "Flower Garden" (W) on the map. It's about 1/2 mile up the North Fork across from the Pineapple Field. (V).
According to my records it weighed 5 pounds and was 19 1/2 inches long.
I don't have any information on what bait was used to catch it.

Where did you catch it?

Thank you so much for taking the time to record the information and get it back to me.
Aloha,
Stan

Hi Stan,
When nothing is biting, I always have some live bait along.
In this case it was medakas.
I caught the two bigger ones at Mikimiki Flats
and the small one at Kemoo Island.
Glad to help.
