Largemouth, Peacock, and Bluegills, Oh My!

Postby Stan Wright » Sun May 23, 2010 6:43 pm

I can't believe there weren't more boats on the water...
Do you suppose it was the rain?
This is what we're looking for. A peacock
bass to show the guys.

The bluegills were out in force and very aggressive.
They chased the flys and even the Senkos.
This is the largest one of the day. I lost count of
how many we saw or caught... probably more
bluegill today than I've seen in the last year all together.
And we weren't even fishing for them.

This is about the size of most of our peacock bass
this afternoon... under one pound.
Had chases from a lot more than we hooked...

Also caught a bunch of largemouth bass... but I'm
just showing pictures of the 2 largest ones.

Good to see we've had a good
spawn of largemouth this year.

And meanwhile, in the back of the boat....
Not much action on the little white Senko.
Lots of follows, but not that many fish...
So we switched her off to a little red/silver
Beetle Spin and the hookup action increased 10 fold.

We only fished for 2 hours... 2 to 4 PM....
and there was some kind of action going on all the time.
Even with the on/off light rain.... we had a great time.
Largest fish of the day, a solid 3 pounder.
