Todays Hot Lures

Postby Stan Wright » Thu Mar 11, 2010 8:32 pm

It was a really fun day.... the best day of fishing I've had this year.
I was impressed with 8 year old Nick. Not only was he an ace caster,
he could even tye on his own hooks. :D
He even caught a big bluegill.

We tagged 6 of the larger peacock bass....

All the action was along the North Fork between
Leon's Cove and Kemoo Farm... and not one
peacock on live bait... every thing was caught on
CastMasters or Senkos.
Looks like Blue Gill are starting to make a comeback.

These 2 pound size peacock bass

Hey Stan! Thanks for taking care of Phong and Nicky! Looks like they had a great time. :D

Phong's a great guy and he took care of me when I visited San Diego. I have never met Nicky but from what I saw on the other board, Nicky is an absolute natural born fish killah...he's famous on his home turf as the corvina killer. :D

Can't wait to see the rest of Phong's report when he post them up. :D

Big Mahalo Stan! :D

Can't Thanks Chris and Stan Enough!!!

Visiting from San Diego, we were fortunate to get in 2 days of tuc fishing with Chris and Stan. The following is a condensed version of our outings...

03/08/10 – Today was a special one…early birthday gift for Nicky = half day guided trip at Lake Wilson for peacock bass. We went out with Chris and we had to work for our fish today. In between the rain and wind, missed follows, strikes and endless casting, we did get a few.

First one of the day was a “not so common” catch…

Image

In the last 30 minutes of the trip, we found what we were looking for. Nicky got his via an assist from Chris :D

Image

Further down the shoreline and some more casting, I finally got mine…

Image

Same fish, different view...

Image

We only got 3 fish for the day but Nicky scored his first ever peacock and that was our one goal for the week. Big mahalo to Chris for really making Nicky's day!

...

03/11/10 – Earlier in the week, Stan Wright offered to take us fishing, so today we took him up on that offer and we opted for another crack at the peacocks. Talk about a people person, Stan really went out of his way to make the day fun for us (especially Nicky). The morning started pretty slow with the first fish being a decent sized bluegill, go figure. We continued to run and gun, battling the wind and rain and then once the sun came out, it got really good.

First “right kind” of the day…

Image

We got a mix bag of fish varying in size from 1-2lbers. Big or small, they hit the lures in the same violent manner 8) .

Nicky and his new best friend...

Last one before we called it a day and you know who got to catch it...

It turned out to be a full day of fishing, truly epic fishing for Nicky and I. Thank you again Stan for really taking care of us!!!

A week removed from our outing with Stan and we (Nicky and I) are still buzzing over the experience 8). We'll be back!!!

The best part (well except for seeing Nick catch those peacock bass) was the great lunch... thanks Dad. It was a real pleasure having someone on the boat who could can cast, and tie on his own lures. ... Thanks Nick.
:D :D :D
Chris and I are still talking about all the fun we had.

I would've gladly bought you breakfast, lunch and dinner (for two weeks straight) for the great experience(s) that we had! The funny thing is, I got in trouble with the wife that Thursday, not for fishing all day and getting back late, but for getting you your lunch so late in the day   . We'll try to be more punctual the next time!

If Stan doesn't, I know of someone who does..... I bought several bags of the gold pearl. Hopefully they will work just as well, but it would be nice to have a few bags of the white for comparison.
