Spawners and Schoolers

Postby Stan Wright » Thu Jun 11, 2009 10:52 pm

On Wed. morning the peacock bass were spawning along the north fork... Early on they were also schooling and chasing shad... nice size peacock bass in the 2 to 3 pound size.

On Thurs. they were still there. How ever, by the time I got there in the afternoon schooling was scattered and slow. Talked to one guy who got some 4 pounders using larger live talipia for bait.

Red devils were still around, but not as aggressive as they have been in the last few weeks. We still caught a bunch.

They are called peacock bass because of the spot on the tail.

This one chased the fly all the way to the boat before it ate it.
