Hello everyone I am new here, from Texas, and am planning on fishing the "mud hole" today! Never fished for peacocks but I am going to use my LM bass fishng techniques for fishng muddy water and see how it goes. I will be using dark color worms, and jigs, along with a couple top waters and spinners, all worked slow, shallow, and very tight to cover.
We will see how it goes! I just couldnt wait to hit the water and do some fshng, so going to just have to make the muddy water work for me.
I will let everyone know how I did later on tonight!

well we tried everything we had today, spinners baits (large and small blades), plastics, jigs, even live bait. Only had a few hits. It was tough. we paddled probably 1/2 mile down, and worked both sides of the banks.
Tough tough day, but it was very very entertaining watching my buddy continuously flip over in the kayak! lol It was his first time in a yak. Fun day overall but no fish. We did catch a large red devil in the cast net, and what I am guessing were two talapia as well, while catching bait.
Cant wait to go back, I am determined to find these fish!

Oh by the way, we were in and out before the latest rain storms hit hard today, and the water was REAL muddy already from the last few days rains. Not sure what the lake looks like normaly since it was my first time, but I couldnt see a chartruese jig 6" under the water! So its probably going to be a little while for it to clear up.

muddy water
your muddy water technique will work but not this soon, storms guarenteed shut em down and driven em deep deep deep, tucs especially.the largemouth will be where you figured in a week or two depending on the weather.the tucs tend to take longer to recover from such a muddy deluge.if you must fish,id say slow and deep, stay on the points ,use jigs, deep cranks, spinnerbaits and even then it will be a challenge.good luck and stay out of the lightning!

FYI heads up guys.
I saw in your recent post that you used a cast net out on the lake for baitfish.
Please be aware that state fishing regulations prohibit the possession of, or the sale of any cast net or what they call here a throw net with a mesh size smaller than 2 (two) inches. The regulation applies to the lake also. The regs purposely uses the word possession because the enforcement officers can confiscate and ticket you for just possessing a small mesh cast net. They don't even have to observe you using it.
Small mesh scoop nets aka dip nets are allowed provided the handles are not longer than a couple of feet.
It's probably wise to leave that gear at home. No sense in risking getting caught and ruining your fishing day.
