University of Hawaii Manoa Quarry Pond Update

I just moved here from Florida and wanted to fish the quarry pond near UH. I caught some midas cichlids, 5 star general cichlids and a Jaguar cichlid that was pretty big. I only fished it for 30 mins or so, but I will fish it more often. Anyone catch any SMB's down there lately? And anyone wanna go fish the pond hit me up.

fyi : last time I was there, I was informed by a campus security guard that fishing is not allowed in that pond. ( not sure why ) anyway, if you do get stopped, I would just play dumb and say that you didn't know.

Anyone who wants to fish PM me. I got an office on campus where I stash some rods and nets to go between classes :)

Supposedly there are SMB in the Manoa stream. They are almost invasive in most of the freshwater streams on the island.

Back in 2000 used to catch plenty BIG SMB in Ho'omaluhia pond. This was right before someone dumped Red Devils into the pond which took over, and I'm guessing fed on juvenile SMBs. :roll:

Nowadays you can't fish Ho'omaluhia with spinning rods, only with cane poles, no casting allowed. I guess no need to cast anyways as the only fish are Red Devils, and they are at your feet by the hundreds. :roll:
