Spawning Peacock Bass
The water temperature finally hits 80º+ and the fishing action picks up, and the peacock bass move into shallow water and start spawning.... and it RAINS. Seems like for the last month or so, just when the fishing gets good, it rains and the water level rises 3 or 4 or 5 feet overnight.... then when things get back to normal and it rains again. Well, on the positive side, I bet we have a fantastic fish spawn this year.
Hooked several large peacock bass on the tenkara rod. They are easy to hook, but a real challenge to land on a 4# test leader and no reel...
If you catch a fish with a gold or silver flash-a-boo fly in it's mouth, it's one of my flys.
Think I'll stick with these 3/4 pound size.
