Speed fishing 10/5/12

Postby Baires722 » Fri Oct 05, 2012 2:57 pm

Went fishing for a couple of hours today(9-11). I wasn't planning on it but figured I would bring a few rods since I was already going to be out on the lake taking care of "business". The water by the ramp was muddy but it cleared up once I got closer to the dam. No wind and plenty of sun, figured the fish would be really close to the cover in the shade. First cast to a laydown caught me a descent 2lb LMB. Caught 2 more the same way and caught a Tuc as they were schooling. Schooling action was on today. They were busting everywhere out there and I saw tons of schools of baitfish running just under the surface. I don't know if I would really consider them schools of baitfish though since some of the schools had less then 5 shad in them. All in all, pretty good day of fishing.

I wonder if the schooling was off on Mon., Tues., and Wed. because of the quick draw down of the water level.... or the change in the weather?
Anyway, it's good to see it happening again.

I think it's more related to the weather. The water has been consistently coming down for the past week and half, and with the trade winds on slow side, I think the hot weather got them really active. Who knows though, this isn't your average lake, so anything could turn on or off the fishing. Everyday the lake gives you a new piece to it's crazy dis functional puzzle!
