Looking for some help

Postby sawmill joe » Wed Jun 17, 2009 1:25 pm

My name is Joe Cerniglia, I live in Truckee Ca. (15 miles north of Lake Tahoe. A buddy and myself will be in Kauai (Poipu area) Oct. 31 thru Nov. 7, 2009, so I am hoping someone will come to my aide with some much needed info on fishing for Peacock bass, Bone fish, and fishing the reefs.
My questions.
Guides, name and number
Flies
Wt of rod to bring
Line type's
Places to fish
Fly Shop's
People that would like to fish
Any help would be great.
Thank you all

Hi. I assume you know that this forum is based around Lake Wilson, which is on the island of Oahu. Maybe Stan Wright can get you in touch with Glen Ikemoto on Kauai. There used to be a guy named Jack Gushiken there too. He was a very well known Kauai angler. There is a freshwater guide named Tom Christy http://www.sportfishhawaii.com/bassfishing.htm
I don't know much about him, but you might want to confirm that you are interested in tucs (peacocks) and not LMB or SMBs.
I think all the ponds are privately owned there, so fishing without a "hook up" might be a problem. I have caught smallmouth up in the top of the Wailua River while just exploring the island. I also caught LMB in Waita Reservoir before it became so "private". Haven't tried lately.
I guess the guy to ask would be Stan. Good Luck!
Fishing is fun only if you do it for fun.Image www.texassidewinderrods.com
