Theory-running out of shad?

This time of the year when the bass are hitting anything you throw at them, could it be that they've consumed a majority of the newly born baitfish in the lake so they go after whatever looks like food? I see a ton of tiny tilapia at the points but what about the shad? Can the shad population actually handle the increasing Tuc population?

I've heard there are less shad these days than years ago.... I can't tell.
I've seen some large shad schools.

Today, Friday, the bass and peacock bass were schooling and chasing shad all day.... between the dam and Kemoo Island... up to 3 pound size.

Like Stan said, the shad population looks stable. I can not tell if there is less this year than in the previous years. I think the tucunare population appears to be stable also. I do not think it is increasing as far as I can tell.
