Not As Big As I Thought...

Ever hook a fish.... and before you get a chance to see it.... it comes unbuttoned or the line breaks? :(
man I thought I had at least a 10 pounder that broke my line. ( any fish that gets away is automatically a 10 pounder )

I get a smashing strike, the fish runs, and the line breaks. Must have been a bad knot where I tied the leader to the line. But anyway, that was a nice fish.

Almost an hour later I catch this little 12 inch peacock bass. There is my hook in its mouth... 6 feet of red leader is wrapped around the fish... and 4 feet of line is trailing behind it. This is the 10 pound monster that broke my line? :?: :?: :?:

I removed both hooks, untangled all the line from around my "monster bass" and released it.

Just goes to show you that catch and release works.
A fish with a hook in its mouth will still keep feeding.
It's amazing how a "10 pound fish" can loose 9 pounds in less than an hour.

So true. Some of the smaller trout we caught back in Cali fought like the devil. Fun times tho on small tackle.
