Is there a decent chart of Lake Wilson available especially with point, and island names already noted? I'd like to print out and distribute to noobies, anything to help encourage the sport (strictly for C&R believers). MAHALO

I tried going out into the blue yesterday and got nailed by the wind when I cleared Haleiwa Harbor. I am SO ready for a Wilson run after getting skunked last couple times in the blue.

I want to do week as well. Gotta plug the scuppers I guess, dont need to soak in that water all day.

OahuDave what kine of fishing were u doin? I fish Haliewa a bit in my yak and usually do pretty good with whipping top water for papio. Haven't had much luck dunking ika but I think I need to find the drop-off and maybe do mo better.

I generally drag a couple Opelus and go for Mahi or Ono, or whatever wants to get caught. I go about 3 miles out usually and run any crab pots. I try to get to the 40 fathom line at least, but so far all my hits have been in about 150-175 or so.

I just got started about 6 months ago and dont get out much at all. We should definitely hook up sometime if you are up for it. Check out aquahunters.com if you havent already for some great kayak information.

Let me know when you have time during the week and I will take the day off from work. I can do it anytime. You gonna bring one of your cool boats? If so maybe we can tandem up, not entirely sure I want to get into the water too much.

Aloha Dave, The only boat I have that's mobile is my 11' canoe 'Lil Vandi" which is rated for 350 lbs. max, I weigh 225. How much do you weigh? I know plenty other guys use kayaks as well as float tubes in Lake Wilson pretty regular with no ill effects. I don't believe the Leptospirosis threat is as high as some believe but the shoreline signs are more so to free the State of any liability just in case. Every body of freshwater in the State runs the risk of Leptospirosis but that don't stop the thousands of youth every year from swimming mountain streams or sneaking into Ho'omaluhia Pond and Lake Wilson for a swim. Just make sure you have no open sores making constant contact with freshwater when kayaking and you'll be fine.

Cool. I figured they were playing it safe with the signs. Still gonna plug my scupper holes before going in. I think I am going to try this later this week. I need to get on some water, but dont have time for the deep water stuff.
