Largemouth technique

Postby Lrry93 » Mon Nov 19, 2007 11:37 am

Since the bite for the P bass has slowed some I started going after the Largemouth again. I have caught some mainly off the points with soft plastics in deep water but I cant seem to find them in groups. I also have done alot of structure fishing and have pulled very few fish out of the logs or grass. They seem to be returning to the main basin with the water temp cooling. Everything on Lake Wilson is bassackwards from the mainland Largemouth except for in the springtime it seems.

Any ideas?

Since fishing Wilson I really haven't tried targeting largemouth very much. When I have I usually catch them flipping or cranking. I've caught a few on plastic worms and soft jerk baits as well. I've tried busting the banks like I used to back home and haven't really had great success. Most of my crankbait fish come in 10-15ft water over submerged brush. Plastic worm fish usually about the same water. The LM I've caught on points have been on spinner baits and crainkbaits. All seem to be loners, I haven't found a group of largemouth in one spot except up at the North Fork, and for the most part about half the LM I've caught have been schooling with the tucs. I haven't even seen any LM spawning. I'm kinda in the same boat as you Larry.
