Hello everyone, my name is Calvin. I am coming to Oahu at the end of the month for my bro's wedding. Some people probably saw my post on the Hawaii Bass Facebook page. I had spinal cord cancer several years ago that caused nerve damage in legs. Then in Feb I broke both bones in leg and had six screws and a rod put in. Four months later I'm still on crutches because it isn't healing well due to the previous damage. Anyway I emailed several different people (Chris, Stan, and Opy) for a guided trip on Wilson, but it looks like bad timing with the boat ramp being closed.

So I am planning on just renting a kayak and going up on June 24. I was thinking I could pay some kids 10 or 20 bucks to carry it to and from the lake for me. Are there enough people around that this will work? I have been reading past posts to get some ideas for catching peacocks. Are there any particular spots or bait/lures I should start with. I fish here in Colorado about 100 days a year so I am pretty familiar with almost all techniques and have just about every style lure you could think of. I will be bringing my minnow traps even. LOL. You can private message me if you would like. I totally understand about people's spots and I would never tell another person any information that you give me. I have had it happen to me so would not even open my mouth.

If you put in by boy scout island or off the main road - you cant go wrong with small streamers, small castmasters, rapalas etc for schoolers right now. other than that the Tucs are posted up on rocks and big logs. I like small flukes and senkos

Thanks for the info. From older posts and your advice I was thinking about putting in at Boy Scout Island then work the flats and then down toward the dam. Have any of you guys ever used big swimbaits (6-8") for the peacocks? I've caught a bunch of big pike on them and figured I'd give it a try. Tight Lines!!

Might work on spawning fish, especially fry ball fish. Normally you would use smaller size baits. A study in the 60's or 70's showed that tucs preferred mosquito fish and shad. Of course that does not mean they won't touch it.
