Several of you have ask if I ate Guinea Pig while in Peru.
Yes, and when fried, it does taste like chicken. When baked, it taste like roast pork.
Butterflied, and deep fried with a side of local potatoes and corn… the kernels on Peruvian corn are huge. Good Eats.
The guinea pigs are huge… the country folks kept them in the home and they run around all over the place. 20 or 30 in the one room homes.
I'll have that fat little white one over there, please.
Even Jesus ate guinea pig at the Last Supper (see picture). Or so it was depicted by a local Peruvian artist in this 17th century painting.
Alpaca, on the other hand, taste nothing like chicken (guinea pig). LOL
I knew I should have bought the T-shirt..
