This is how I first heard of the Mississippi Roast… on Facebook…

"Mississippi Roast: By far the best recipe I have tried.
I won't make a roast any other way now. Mississippi Roast – -
Put chuck roast in crock pot, Sprinkle with Hidden Valley ranch dressing,
add McCormick Au Jus mix, a stick of butter,
5 pepperoncini peppers. DO NOT ADD WATER.
Cook on low for 7-8 hrs"

Well, that sounds easy… think I'll try it…
This is what mine looked like just before I plugged in the crockpot.
OH NO… wrong kind of chili peppers.
Sorry I don't have a picture of after we switched to
the pepperonicini peppers.

We cooked it for 7 hours and it was fall-apart-tender.
A kind of buttery tast ( y'a think? ) with just a tiny hint of the peppers.
My daughter said it needed a little salt and pepper,
but I thought it was just find. I will do this one again.

Looks like a great recipe! Do you have to brown the chuck roast before you put it in the crockpot?

No, just tossed it in, sprinkled on the two dry powder packets, place the butter and peppers on top and that was it.

Thanks. Gonna try it, maybe with some carrots and onions around the edges.

Tried this recipe yesterday. We squeezed in two chuck roasts, about 4.5 lbs. total weight into the crock pot and doubled up on everything else. Also put some baby carrots and pearl onions on top. Turned out great! Next time I'm going to put less than double the dry package mixes and butter.
