New Lure ?

As you know I really like my little gold fly. It catches everything.
Well, what do you do if you want to use the fly, but you do not know how to use a flyrod ?

Another of my favorite lures is the little gold CastMaster.
Since the little gold fly is very light, you can't throw it with a spinning rod.
So I got to wondering... what if you removed the "Star Hook"
( for you non-Hawaii anglers, that's a treble hook) and replaced it with a little gold fly?

It works. The Cast Master... ( SW225, 1/12 oz., 2.5 g. )
Is heavy enough to cast using a 4# test spinning rod.
The little gold fly attracts peacock bass of all sizes.

The only problem so far is that the jumping fish seem
to be able to throw the hook more often. I bend down
the barbs on all my lures... We're experimenting with
using a barbed hook and see if the landings improve.

I think it may be quite sucessful, given the right conditions. Lemme know if you want to do some testing! 8)

Hi Stan, try using a barbless circle or curved hook. Or you can try bending the point of a "straight hook" in toward the shank. Tried that on the belly hooks of my plugs so that they don't foul hook the fish but it seems to hook the fish even more.

Disregard my last post, I took a closer look at your hooks and I see you are already using the mz type hook.
