Hey everyone! Can anyone give me tips on fishing the south fork. I'm planning on taking my pontoon boat out next weekend and paddling up the north fork is something I'd rather not do again. I'm probably going to specifically target peacock bass to make a video or a company in SoCal.

I don't know what the water temperature is right now, but I'd guess 70 to 73 degrees. Until it reaches 78 degrees the peacock bass fishing is probably going to be on the slow side.

With day time air temperatures in the lower 70's and night time temperatures at 63 all this coming week...

Have you thought of putting in along the road across from Boy Scout Island?
Sure save you a lot of paddling.

Driving NORTH on Wilikina Rd after the H-2 ends you'll come to the traffic light where Kunia Road intersects from the left. On the right is a bus stop and a rock wall. Pull over onto the grass just past the rock wall.

Is there parking near there?

People just park on the grass on the side of the road and walk down to the water. There are DLNR signs there with the fishing regs. Lots of people shore fish around there.

I used to do pretty good flipping grass in the south fork with a creature bait specifically a sweet beaver. Was best when the water levels were up.

Yeah we were fishing the grass in the south fork the other day because te water was high and there was a lot of submerged stuff. If the water is low enough I might go past the bridge thing and try fish by the south stream

If you are taking out a pontoon boat, there is only one boat ramp at the freshwater park. If you are taking a kayak, then yes, try to put in near Kemoo Farms. Good fishing all around there.

The south fork has my very favorite hand size Bluegill grounds on the whole lake. when they are in spawn mode this place is choked with huge 'gills.
