Can anyone give me some tips on fishing lake Wilson. I am landlocked so I been doing some research on baits, tackle, spots etc....I been a to the lake about 6 times and so far have only caught one catfish. We been to some places that are pretty hard to get too, pretty much sliding all the way down the mountain. We use light tackle and have used tilapia, feeder fish, and those 5 bar generals for bait with not much luck. It's pretty discouraging being all muddy and catching no fish all day long. Is there any tips someone can give me to try catch some fish? Thank you

Fishing from the bank can be pretty tricky but if I were you I would fish the points that can be accessed from Wilikina St. The bait you're using is perfect! Baby tilapia is what I prefer to use. I usually rig them on a #2 circle hook with a split shot about 1-2ft above it. The lead will sink to the bottom and the bait swims freely just above it. The water is up right now but once everything settles down you shouldn't have any problems catching fish on the points.Look up the lake Wilson map and the points I'm talking about are on the south side of the map. Hope this helps.

Plus, the winter months are tougher than the spring/summer months.

As soon as the water temperature reaches 78 degrees you should see great increase in the fishing action.
