Just added a bamboo hiking stick to my vast collection staffs. Bamboo is light and strong, but the ones I made just didn't last. Then I met Mike Kim, "The Broomman". My wife got a new broom and I got a new hiking staff.
Both are works of art.

For those of you who hike into those secluded streams in search of giant small mouth... well you know the value of a hiking staff to give you balance on long walks, hiking trails, and slippery stream beds. You might want to check these out.

And the brooms work great too... just ask my wife... she has had me using it enough.

Too big for that. If you are told to "go out in the yard and fetch me a switch". Remember that a thin switch will hurt more than a wide board swatted across your bottom.
(Yes, that is experience talking.)

Oh, she knows it's definitely too big. That's the point. All she has to do is to look directly at that stick...and kids know to listen. Just the mere threat of the thought of grabbing the stick will put kids in line. Of course you can't always just threaten.

(Yes, that's talking from experience...belt, bamboo duster and plastic coat hanger. You're right...the thin split bamboo switch hurts the most...when that thing whips back...watch out! Why do you think Chinese kids are so well mannered? :P  Good old days growing up in Hong Kong...every household has a thin split bamboo "discipline stick")
