The Alabama Rig

Postby Stan Wright » Sun Dec 11, 2011 10:43 am

:D
The lure is called "The Alabama Rig."
It's the newest inovation that's taking the largemouth bass
community by storm. The Alabama Rig is catching so many
fish in the professional bass tournaments that many anglers
are trying to have it banned.

If you've never heard of an Alabama Rig you might want to
stop right now and go on www.Google.com ... then type in "Alabama Rig".
It is actually several lures combined on a wire frame similar to
an umbrella ... known commonly among anglers as "an umbrella rig."

East Coast striper fisherman have been using the umbrella rig to
trawl for stripers for years... But it took a Southern Boy to scale
it down so you could throw it with a casting rod.
(And you thought because we talk slow that we are dumb)

Now "what" you may ask has this to do with fly fishing? Well if it
workes so good as a lure... catching 2, 3, even 4 fish on one cast...
I wonder how it would work as a fly? So having more free time than good sence... I give you.....

TA... DA...

That looks like something a guy in Kaneohe with too much time on his hands could whip up on a rainy, windy day! Awesome creation Dr. Frankenlure !

Have fun catching 4 red devils on one cast

I'd like to see you cast that on a 5-wt though. :P

Stan,
Have you tried out the mini alabama rig yet? I'm definitely curious! I bet it'll work.

Bama Rig

I believe Andy Poss is the inventor of the Alabama Rig. He fishes on the FLW tour. Dan Morehead won a Everstart Tourn. recently using the Bama Rig. To bad we cant use it on Lake Wilson, cause the amount of hooks on it. You could, if you use just one of the baits with hooks on weekends and two hooks on weekdays. They will bite the ones with no hooks. Geez!
